High-availability clusters: A taxonomy, survey, and future directions

چکیده

The delivery of key services in domains ranging from finance and manufacturing to healthcare transportation is underpinned by a rapidly growing number mission-critical enterprise applications. Ensuring the continuity these complex applications requires use software-managed infrastructures called high-availability clusters (HACs). HACs employ sophisticated techniques monitor health application layers resources they use, seamlessly restart or relocate components after failures. In this paper, we first describe manifold uses protect essential critical present architecture high availability clusters. We then propose taxonomy that covers all aspects -- deployment patterns, areas, types cluster, topology, cluster management, failure detection recovery, consistency integrity, data synchronisation; provide comprehensive survey end-to-end software solutions available for HAC Finally, discuss limitations challenges existing solutions, identify opportunities future research area.

Fog Computing: A Taxonomy, Survey and Future Directions

In recent years, the number of Internet of Things (IoT) devices/sensors has increased to a great extent. To support the computational demand of real-time latency-sensitive applications of largely geo-distributed IoT devices/sensors, a new computing paradigm named ”Fog computing” has been introduced. Generally, Fog computing resides closer to the IoT devices/sensors and extends the Cloud-based c...

Survey and Future Directions

Highly scaled CMOS devices in the nanoscale regime would inevitably exhibit statistical or probabilistic behavior. Such behavior is due to process variations and other perturbations such as noise. Therefore current circuit design methodologies, which depend on the existence of deterministic and uniform devices with no consideration for either power consumption or probabilistic behavior, would n...

High-performance computing: clusters, constellations, MPPs, and future directions

Last year’s paper by Bell and Gray [1] examined past trends in high performance computing and asserted likely future directions based on market forces. While many of the insights drawn from this perspective have merit and suggest elements governing likely future directions for HPC, there are a number of points put forth that we feel require further discussion and, in certain cases, suggest alte...

A Augmentation Techniques for Mobile Cloud Computing: A Taxonomy, Survey, and Future Directions

Despite the rapid growth of hardware capacity and popularity in mobile devices, limited resources in battery and processing capacity still lack the ability to meet the increasing mobile users’ demands. Both conventional techniques and emerging approaches are brought together to fill this gap between the user demand and mobile device’s limited capabilities. Recent research has focused on enhanci...

Fuzzy adaptive genetic algorithms: design, taxonomy, and future directions

The genetic algorithm behaviour is determined by the exploitation and exploration relationship kept throughout the run. Adaptive genetic algorithms, that dynamically adjust selected control parameters or genetic operators during the evolution have been built. Their objective is to offer the most appropriate exploration and exploitation behaviour to avoid the premature convergence problem and im...
